Today I'm Feeling Inspired By... Christian Louboutin

Not only do I love Interior Design but I also have a thing for fashion. I'm not someone who has to be 'on-trend' but I do love the craftsmanship and the passion of fashion.
So when I heard that MR. CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN was going to be speaking at my favourite museum - The V&A it was something I couldn't miss. Unfortunately, due to 'other' circumstances - I did but thanks to NET-A-PORTER I'm able to share it with you. Christian is such an inspirational icon and I'm so pleased I get to share this with you.

Savoir Beds: International Design Grand Prix Competition

Winner Louise Corser with Alistair and Jenny Gibbs
I'm always so happy for people that are passionate and do well in the interior design industry, especially students who are up-and-coming. So I decided to attend the Savoir Beds competition awards ceremony, and what a great opportunity it was. The competition objective was to design a headboard for Savoir beds'.
I love this crystal design
For this years' theme was 'glamour' which gave the candidates plenty of scope to be as creative as possible. To be in it to win it you had to demonstrate your inspiration, provide front elevations, isometric representation and fabrics. From over 50 entrants the judging panel of leading industry professionals including KLC whittled the competition down to FOUR LUCKY FINALISTS

Congratulations Louise
Alistair of Savoir Beds' announced the lucky overall WINNER as Louise Corser for her 'CRYSTAL' themed headboard, inspired by the simplicity and culture of Japan. The design is simple and oozes sophistication. The crystals symbolise blossoms on a delicate branch whilst adding glamour. Louise will be jetting off for a weekend break in Vienna at a top luxury hotel courtesy of Savoir with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne. Well done!

The runner up was Lindsey Roberts from London who bagged the prize of a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne for her beautiful 'BURLESQUE' themed headboard. I liked this design for its boldness and risk-factor. It had a lush choice of colours and Ooo-la-la feel.
Congrats to Runner Up Lindsey Roberts
I like the corset design with the burlesque theme

The headboards will go on tour and on display at one of the Savoir London stores (King's Road, Wigmore Street or Harrods). Savoir have also made an appearance in the latest DURAN DURAN music video - Girl Panic. I love the concept behind the video...

Winning: Designer's Guild

It's not everyday that I win something especially from a great designer like TRICIA GUILD OF DESIGNER'S GUILD. Having just attended the Savoir Beds' International Design Grand Prix Competition Awards I decided to pop into PETER JONES for some research/inspiration for a personal project (details coming soon).

I was asked if I wanted to enter a competition to win a bed set collection courtesy of Designer's Guild. Well you gotta be in-it-to-win-it so I did and voilĂ  I won!

I'm so glad I entered and with loads of great giveaways coming soon on my blog for the festive season you guys should too. You never know!

Book Review: J'adore Decorate

Image credited: makingitlovely.com
Through my blogging and interiors journey I started hearing about a fabulous Designer, Blogger (DECOR8), Writer and Author called HOLLY BECKER (all positive of course). Having been so eager to review this book you could only imagine my excitement when a copy DECORATE landed on my desk!
Forget what you think you know about decoration books as a whole as this cleverly-put-together interiors bible takes it to a whole new level. Witten by Holly and Joanna Copestick (Co-Author) it combines over 1,000 ideas in one creatively bursting publication. Instead of dictating to you a 'how to' of interior decorating you will be guided through formulating ideas from, a piece of furniture, a fabric swatch to even a painting.
Through the book (full of great photographed room-sets and technical sketches) are four detailed sections; Space Matters, Setting Your Style, Rooom by Room and Attention to Detail. Each section encourages you to develop your own style and adopt a style that FEELS RIGHT for YOU.
This really packs a CREATIVE punch! Full of advice for every aspect of interior design and decoration you will also gain tip-bits from designers such as JONATHAN ADLER as well as Kitchen Designers, fellow Interior Designers and Bloggers.
Love these beautifully photographed interiors throughout

VERDICT:

If you're still reading this instead of purchasing it on AMAZON (RRP £30) then what are you waiting for?! Full of great advice, tips and allowing you to develop and discover your own personal style, this is definitely the interiors book for that keen designer!

Home Offices: I Love

Waking up on a Monday morning and heading into the office... My dream (other than to land my first role in Interior Design) would be to have my own dedicated home office. So I couldn't help but wonder (...sounding like Carrie Bradshaw) if I were to design my own office, what would it be!

Well my mind started doing overtime and I decided to pull together some of my personal favourite home office spaces which reflect my own personal style.
1. I am an organise-freak and like things to be organised (don't mistake this for a neat-freak though - Lol). I'm drawn to this office space for its clean lines and sleek design. I like the way the volume has been pumped up with the texture of the rug and the neon accessories add a great splash of colour.
2. It's always nice to have a light and airy space especially when you're working with colours and fabrics which can change appearance due to the light. I love this office space as there is so much natural light to play with plus there is oodles of storage space for pens, work-drawings and plans as well as a Mac Book for admin tasks.
3. Working from a home office space doesn't have to be boring and bland. I love that this space has powerful pops of colour in a room dominated by white - like a blank canvas. By adding strong colours in the form of cushions, accessories and paintings you can make a space more engaging.
4. I would love to have this in my office - nicely organised, coordinated files for technical-drawings, design proposals and schedules. By using very simple yet even shelving you can achieve a nice, clean look. Again this space allows for a lot of natural light which is perfect!
5. I must admit to lovin' me some Parisian chic and this scheme is no exception. I love the use of ice and duck egg blues against the off-white. Having a mixture of various sized frames also helps to give this scheme a bit of character.

6. Last but by no means least this office also tops my list. Its not just because of how organised it is but I like the use of cherry wood and the different textures used within this scheme.

So I've given you six of the best and I hope this gives you an insight into my design aesthetic and personal style.
